What we do (and why we do it)
Mission Statement of the Eaton Corner Museum
Since its incorporation in 1959 as the Compton County Historical Museum Society, the Eaton Corner Museum (as it is now known) has tried to fulfill its purpose :
To seek out and preserve the story and keep alive the memory of the pioneers and to promote, pursue and encourage a study of the history of Compton and surrounding Townships; to erect monuments, memorials and plaques suited to the purposes of the society; and to maintain libraries, musea and archives under the name of ‘Compton County Historical Museum Society – La Société du Musée historique du Comté de Compton.’”
Letters Patent granted to the Society 20 March 1959, as published in the Gazette officielle de Quebec
Over the years, The Eaton Corner Museum has developed and maintained its collections and archives, its library, and the museum site – which are all accessible to the public - in order to fulfill this mission. It has also developed and administered many projects, activities and events related to its purpose.
